It's fair to say that I've now settled into my 'second home', my new studio, nestled beside the house has been worth the wait and how I've looked forward to having a space to call my own. My view is up the side garden, a bit higgeldy piggledy with newly planted wild flowers and perennials which were stuck in a plot twenty years ago and still need to be moved..but they seem to thrive well, so, maybe I should leave them for another year. I also have a view of my whirly gig which is constantly full of washing - a reminder that reality often gets in the way of creative time...but time is what arty folks need to make!

To that end, I've been experimenting with textile collage (I have been on many wonderful textile courses over the years and hope to continue to do so) and have been creating landscape patterns out of scraps of dyed fabric and other bits and pieces - it's almost like competing a jigsaw but with no missing pieces!

In July, I had the opportunity to stay at the Admiral's House, Braes in the Isle of Skye which is owned by WASPS who own a number of properties throughout Scotland that are let to artists.

Thw weather was scorching - I was surrounded by blue skies, crofts and the views from the house and studio overlooked the Isle of Raasay. It was a good, peaceful stay and I have posted some images from my sketchbook during my time there. Inspiring scenery and hardly any tourists....well, apart from me!

I hope you enjoy my recent efforts.
